Listen to the RK Duo Perform!
by Jules Demersseman
The Rodriguez & Keepe duo can conjure up all sorts of magic from their instruments. Their performances of my music go right inside the pieces, and bring them to life in a wonderful way.
-- Grahan Lynch, Cornwall, England
The R&K Duo have been invited to perform at the North American Saxophone Alliance Region 2 conference to be held April 4-5 at California State Long Beach University. They will be performing Two Emotions for alto saxophone and piano by the legendary saxophonist and Hollywood composer Lennie Niehaus. The composer will be in attendance. Mike will also be performing Three Cutouts for solo alto saxophone written for him by the British composer Graham Lynch, and presenting a lecture on his Doctoral Dissertation research on the legendary Hollywood Saxophone Quartet.
The Duo will also be giving the world premiere of a new piece for soprano saxophone and piano by Niehaus at their performance for the Friends of Music Series at St. Philips in the Hills in Tucson. The piece is still in manuscript with the tentative title of Saxophonic. This 20th anniversary concert will include other works by Bach, Benson, Decruck, Lynch, Mozart, and Wiedoeft. See our performance schedule for more information.
We are honored to have been selected by Brazilian Composer Andersen Viana to take part in his Lonely Heart (Coracao Solitario) Project.
This will be a simultaneous premiere project in which ensembles around the world will premiere his music specifically written for each group.
